Code of Conduct for Students

All dancers at Universal Dance Company are expected to:

Respect & Inclusivity

• Show kindness, respect, and encouragement to fellow dancers and staff.

• Listen to teachers and follow instructions promptly.

• Include and support all dancers, regardless of age or ability.

Commitment & Attitude

• Attend classes regularly, arrive on time, and be prepared to learn.

• Put in effort and demonstrate a positive attitude.

• Respect the studio space by keeping it clean and organised.

Safe & Appropriate Behaviour

• Behave responsibly in class and backstage at performances.

• Maintain appropriate physical boundaries with other dancers.

• Report any safety concerns to a teacher or staff member.

Use of Technology & Social Media

• Use mobile devices responsibly; phones must remain on silent during class.

• Do not record or share videos of classes without permission.

• Be kind and respectful online, avoiding negative comments about peers or the studio.

Breaches & Consequences

Inappropriate behaviour may result in:

• Verbal warnings or discussions with staff.

• Parent meetings and behaviour improvement plans.

• Suspension from classes or performances if issues persist.

Code of Conduct for Families

Parents, guardians, and family members play a vital role in creating a supportive studio environment. We expect families to:

Respect & Positive Support

• Treat staff, students, and other families with respect and kindness.

• Encourage and support their child’s learning without placing undue pressure.

• Avoid gossip, negative discussions, or disrespectful behaviour toward staff, students, or other families.

Communication & Engagement

• Direct any concerns or questions to the studio through appropriate channels.

• Read and respond to studio emails, newsletters, and notices.

• Follow studio policies regarding attendance, fees, and performances.

Child Safety & Well-Being

• Ensure students arrive on time and are collected promptly after class.

• Report any safety concerns to the studio.

• Refrain from contacting staff via personal social media for studio-related matters.

Studio Policies & Etiquette

• Understand that classes are closed to parent viewing (unless specified by the studio).

• Support the studio’s policies, including dress code and behaviour expectations.

• Be mindful of parking and drop-off safety.

Breaches & Consequences

Failure to adhere to this Code may result in:

• Private discussions or formal meetings with studio management.

• Warnings regarding inappropriate behaviour.

• In serious cases, removal from the studio community.
