SINGING & MUSICAL THEATRE

SENIOR REMIX (13YRS+)

This class 'ups the anti' from the Boys classes to incorporate the harder styles of hip hop PLUS we let the girls join in too! We fuse some contemporary styles with hip hop and use more mature topics of dance in class (emotional experiences like love and anger) rather than the "let's have a party" attitude which is common with the younger classes. During these teenage years it is normal for emotions to arise around self awareness and self worth. Therefore we place high importance on continuing to build and maintain self confidence throughout our classes.

BEGINNER, INTERMEDIATE & ADVANCED ACRO (based on ability and skill level) 7-15YRS

Acrobatic classes are designed for dancers wanting to ‘up the anti’ and proceed to the next level! HIP HOP, ACRO & MYSTERY

Moving to your dance school has been such a positive experience for Tenille & as parents we couldn’t ask for more, thank you.

REGINA GOODE, udc parent

Our Performance Students are the most committed dancers at UDC. They take their dance training seriously and place very high importance on attendance in each and every class along with a desire and passion to perfect their craft outside of the studio. These students absolutely LOVE to dance and understand what it takes to persevere to achieve a high standard. Students who are part of the Performance Teams are selected via invite only or an expression of interest followed by a trial period. UDC is selective with who enters the Performance Teams as certain technical aspects are desirable along with a growth mindset and a team player attitude. It is at this level where students compete at eisteddfods and represent UDC in the public arena. We pride ourselves on not only raising beautiful performers with heart and soul, but mature, courteous and well rounded people who are equipped to take on the world.

Performance Teams

6's & 8's PERFORMANCE TEAMS

Our Junior students get their first taste of Performance Team from as young as 5 years old - and don't they grow at a rapid rate! At UDC, we are very mindful of their little bodies and minds, so we ease all our students into the program with minimal classes to begin with. When they are of age, ADA exam classes are compulsory followed by RAD ballet exams. Students are also encouraged to participate in all optional classes within their age group, as these are included in their package.

The process of selection for the 6's Team is via invite from our Bright Star classes. We recommend that students train on all 3 genres while they are little (Ballet, Jazz and Tap) so they have the basic knowledge of these disciplines when they move into Performance Team.

JUNIOR

10's & 12's PERFORMANCE TEAMS

Our Intermediate Performance Students are most active at the studio as the have the opportunity to step into specialty classes for the first time. This is where they receive very specific training across a variety of genres and start to explore expression along with the development of technique. The amount of competitions they attend increases and their exam levels have a heightened degree of difficulty. Students are able to really explore what dance means to them, where their strengths lie and what needs to be cultivated to enhance their ability to be a well rounded dancer. This is a very exciting time in their dance journey and forms the basis of their mindset and how they carry themselves, not only in class, but in the world beyond.

INTERMEDIATE

15's & OPEN'S PERFORMANCE TEAMS

Reaching our Senior Performance Teams is a dream for all of the UDC Students. This is where our Seniors are able to showcase all that they are as dancers and really push themselves to the next level. Technique is refined and executed at its highest level and students explore artistry across all platforms. Students are granted the opportunity to work with industry professionals on a weekly basis and partake in workshops and routine creation with well respected, professional choreographers.  Most of all, our Senior students are the highest calibre of 'young people' in the dance world, as they have learned and practiced daily compassion, empathy, hard work ethic, growth mindset, accountability, camaraderie and respect.  When our Senior Students graduate, they can leave with their heads held high knowing that they have achieved so much, but that there is so much more to continue to achieve.

SENIOR

Maija’s growth this year has been phenomenal- to think that this time last year she was a Bright Star and now... wow! Both yours and her hard work and perseverance has most definitely paid off. Thank you so much to all of the teachers who have made a difference. Sooo proud of all of the 6’s at the concert. They were fab! And such a lovely bunch of girls - really feel like a little team who look out for each other. Backstage, their behaviour was exemplary while having fun. You deserve the credit for fostering this, you can see it in all of the teams!
Also - have to mention how lovely the ‘big girls’ are with our girls - they take the time to make a fuss of them, encourage them and share a hug. Maija idolises them all and of course wants to be a ‘big girl’ one day.
