This Commercial class is the like stepping onto the set of a music video - the perfect combination of both Jazz and Hip Hop styles. The students are challenged to perform at their best and grow at a rapid rate in their jazz technique and performance skills. Technique, flexibility and strength are at the heart of the program - and being one of the most entertaining genres of dance to watch, your child will learn how to work the audience and be a presence on stage. Confidence is developed and grown throughout this class which will have them leaving with their head held high. Students will perform a Commercial routine at the end of year Showcase.

Contemporary is an artistic and expressive combination of Lyrical, Jazz and Classical Ballet styles. In the Intermediate classes at Universal Dance Company the focus is on the exploration of movement and shapes with an introduction of floor work and control. Your child will be encouraged in class to create and form shapes and movement that can tell a story and express emotion. Students will perform a Contemporary routine at the end of year Showcase.

Acrobatic classes are designed for dancers wanting to ‘up the anti’ and proceed to the next level! These classes will strengthen their core, engage fast twitch muscle fibres and improve flexibility through stretching and limbering. Acro classes are a fantastic way for dancers to expand their skill set by learning tricks and lifts for their routines and providing an edge at competitions and auditions. Students will perform an Acro routine at the end of year Showcase.

Universal Dance Company offers the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus which is one of the largest dance organisations in the world with now over 80 countries offering this syllabus. RAD exam classes are a prerequisite for performance group students, however all students are welcome and encouraged to participate. Within these grades the students will have a clear understanding of Ballet technique, with their skill level increasing once they start Intermediate Foundation as Pointe work is incorporated into the exam. Once a year the students will take their annual Ballet exam which will be graded by an external examiner. Upon completion of their exam they can then progress to the next grade. Students will also perform a Ballet routine at the end of year Showcase.

Students in RAD Vocational Exam levels attend this class to specifically work on their pointe technique and learn their pointe syllabus content. If yet to reach this milestone, students will strengthen their feet in preparation for going en pointe.
